EnShared and the entrepreneurs
In 2015, the current shareholders Roel Aarten, Thijs Aarten and Bas van der Peet started the company: EnShared, with the aim to manage the process of complex (collective) projects in the field of energy and sustainability. EnShared’s services offer households, businesses and local governments new and innovative ways to generate (decentralized) sustainable energy.
End 2015, EnShared and a German company established the joint venture Zonatlas NL. Bas van der Peet is the co-director of Zonatlas together with one of the German founders. Zonatlas is a platform that has calculated the solar potential of roofs for the placement of solar panels and solar collectors. Zonatlas is based on an open source data platform, which is accessible for all consumers. With complex calculations based on numerous factors such as historical solar radiance, Kadaster data and Altitude data the potential of over 13.5 Million roofs have been determined. The weather and radiation data is the basis for making further detailed calculation of the effect of a storage/battery system and will be used to integrate new product offerings such as heat pumps and micro-CHP’s. What’s more, even legal building aspects such as government regulations about the townscape are incorporated in this tool.
Zonatlas and EnShared create a unique synergy, as the generated data of Zonatlas can be used to support and identify different customer groups, based on geographical information and the abovementioned factors. EnShared will then support customers with the implementation of different products and solutions proposed.
Current focus
The aim for Zonatlas is to further develop the tool, to assure that as many renewable energy measures as possible are included. The application is, in most cases, offered for free, which reflects the vision clearly: Enabling consumers to make the step towards sustainable energy.
Within EnShared, the current focus lies on the creation of CO2-neutral homes. EnShared offers solutions for customers that are not able to invest in a complete renovation of their homes, but who want to become CO2-neutral. One large problem that they tackle is the seasonal and daily imbalance of the energy demand and supply in the home. EnShared solves this problem by offering a micro-CHP installation (for seasonal influences) in combination with solar panels and a battery package (for daily fluctuation), which can be all be installed within one day.
Vision with Clean Tech Delta
The metropolitan region of Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft is of interest for EnShared and Zonatlas NL, as this region is a frontrunner in the field of sustainability and has set ambitious goals. Therefore, EnShared will explore the opportunity together with Clean Tech Delta to start projects in Rotterdam and its surrounding municipalities with the goal of helping consumers realize their energy saving and sustainable generation measures.
