The Cleantech Summit & Networking Dinner, an initiative of the Tech Tour and the International Venture Club (IVC), hosted by the City of Rotterdam, took place again in Rotterdam on November 23-24. Cleantech companies are tackling problems which are fundamental to our future, and Europe is at the forefront of these developments. During The Cleantech Summit, this year organized for the third time in Rotterdam, 20 emerging and 20 growth stage companies presented their businesses.

This unique event, is a fantastic opportunity to identify the latest developments in the industry, pinpoint emerging and growth companies in Europe, and to establish relationships with leading investors in the sector. It regroups all subsectors of cleantech under one collaborative platform, offering enhanced collaboration and support between entrepreneurs, investors, city authorities, corporates and family offices.

Investment Readiness Programme

On November 23rd there was a meeting of the International Venture Club, as well as an Investment Readiness Programme in which a selection of emerging companies were given a chance at a last “dry run”. All attendees were invited to the networking dinner at the Floating Pavilion. On November 24th some 70 investors and 40 presenting companies as well as regional stakeholders and representatives from start-ups as well as corporates gathered in the Van Nelle Fabriek.

During the plenary opening Guido Frenken gave insight into the strategy of Engie in the regional value chain, a panel discussed the role of new technologies on the maximum use of existing assets and infrastructure. After that, Rinke Zonneveld urged all to “roll up their sleeves and get to work”.

The agenda included 40 company presentations by emerging and growth companies in the following sectors:

  • Sustainable Energy
  • High Tech Systems & Materials
  • Circular Economy
  • Maritime & Offshore
  • Mobility

Network opportunity

In all some 150 guests were present at the Summit. Representatives from the Cleantech and Venture Capital market, top executives from blue chip technology companies, international venture capitalists, investment bankers, service providers and advisers from all around the world. The networking opportunity as well as the one-to-one meetings also an opportunities for establish a connection. Based on the presentation and business case of the presenting companies, seven companies were invited to attend the European Venture Summit in Dusseldorf in December. Here companies selected at other various events across Europe will have a chance to present again for investors and clients from other markets. Amongst the selected companies were PingleSemiotic Labs and Fistuca!
