Redefining the energy landscape:

Digital innovation as key enabler for the energy transition

Are you affected by digital innovation? Of course, digital innovation takes place in every industry. Big data, the Internet of Things and cloud computing are some of the technologies in the digital revolution that are dramatically transforming and changing everyday lives. It changes the way we live, work, interact and communicate, and creates the foundation for a new industrial revolution. This digital trend has a major impact on incumbent business models. At the same time, it provides opportunities for innovation and new start-ups. In the energy landscape, many utilities offer smart, connected homes and workplaces, based on remotely controlled energy management gadgets and devices. Smart grids are monitored based on sensor data, and electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular and affordable and their batteries are expected to become an important element in temporary storage of energy.

Re-inventing the energy industry

Digitisation and digital innovation, combined with the political focus on an efficient and competitive, low-carbon economy, requires a complete re-invention of the energy industry. Join us at the fifth annual Erasmus Energy Forum (EEF), which focuses on redefining the energy landscape and digital innovation as one of the key enablers for the transition. Business Day is on Wednesday 18 May, and Science Day on Thursday 19 May.
