Good news for the region of Rotterdam and for the project Scale up project! – 16% from all fast growing companies in the city region Rotterdam are currently in the Clean Tech sector (high tech systems). We can say that this sector is quite upcoming, when we are talking about scale-ups (a company that has 20% growth over a period of 3 years). These results recently appeared from a research from the Erasmus university in collaboration with the Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship (ECE).
The city region Rotterdam knows 288 fast growing companies: almost 40% of the total fast growing companies in the province Zuid-Holland. Nearly 60% of these companies have 10 to 50 employees and created 7100 jobs in the period of 2011-2014.
Fast growing companies are mainly clustered within Rotterdam. Besides, smaller cluster in Cappele aan den IJsel, Ridderkerk, Barendrecht and Schiedam exist. They are mainly operative in wholesale and retail. High-tech systems, Agro & Food and logistics are the top sectors within Zuid-Holland with relatively the most fast growing companies.
