On October 26 Clean tech Delta organised ‘Tomorrow’s cities’ in cooperation with InnovationQuarter and Cirkelstad. The event took place at the Duurzaamheidsfabriek in Dordrecht. A perfect location, because of its purpose and because it was the first time an event took place in the municipality of Drechtsteden.

To kick of the event an expert panel discussion took place, consisting of the members: Laurens Groen (Milgro), Rutger Buch (Cirkelstad), Gertjan de Werk (Center for Sustainability and LDE) and Marieke van der Werf (dr2neweconomy). The members shard their ideas and believes on the important topics for tomorrow’s cities. Examples of topics that passed by are smart cities, waste management, circular economy and how all these concepts can be combined to create an interconnected system.

The panel discussion was followed up by two pitches on the topic of circular economy. Francesca Miazzo told about her inspiring initiative WASTED, a new way of recycling in Amsterdam. Followed by Rutger Sypkens from the BAM Group, presenting about waste management in the building sector.

The third part of the event was ‘open spaces’, where three spaces were created to discuss different circular project challenges.

  1. Martin Hulsebosch, gemeente Dordrecht: ”the development of “de duurzaamheidsfabriek” and learning park towards an innovation hub”. Moderator: Jan-Willem, Cirkellab
  2. Peter Pol & Ger Kwakkel, gemeente Den Haag: “Central innovation District The Hague”. Moderator: Robert Jan, Plein06
  3. Peter Verschoor, Gemeente Roterdam, “innovative techniques for managing waste”.

This was off course followed up by networking and drinks. At the end we could look back on a successful event.
